Create Fun with Bridal or Wedding Shower Favors
Everyone knows that the host or hostess of a party traditionally gives out party favors as “Thank you” gifts to the guests at any party. They are normally small, low cost items that are simply given out to thank the guests for attending. There are different types of party favors for all types of parties, so it should not surprise anyone to learn that there are special favors perfect for a bridal or wedding shower.
One thing that a lot of people do not realize is that bridal and wedding shower favors can be used for other purposes at the party. These items can be used as inexpensive decorations depending on the theme of the shower. This allows the hostess to place them to make the site of the party look better and have less cleanup to worry about afterward because part of the decorations go home with the guests. Decorating with bridal or wedding shower favors and letting the guests have them as “Thank you” gifts after the party can be a fun way to incorporate the favors into the party.
It is also a fairly common practice to order several extra bridal or wedding shower favors, usually some with a little higher value. The hostess then places some of these extra favors into different bags to be given as prizes to the winners of the games that are played during the shower. This is a low cost method of ensuring that each winner leaves feeling as if she was rewarded for winning at whatever game earned her the prize.
It is not uncommon in today’s world for men to be included at the wedding shower. These parties are known as “Jack and Jill” wedding showers and include the groom and his friends as well as the ladies that traditionally attend a bridal shower. The gifts given are generally to the couple rather than just to the bride. There are wedding shower favors that work well in these mixed parties as well as the more traditional ladies only bridal shower.
As for prizes for the winners of the games, hostesses sometimes order items that are appropriate for men or women, or order a few feminine and a few masculine gifts. They are then able to set up prize bags for women and bags for men and award the bags according to the gender of the winner of each game.
Whether it is a bridal shower for the soon-to-be bride or a wedding shower for bride and groom, the tradition dates back over two centuries, some people say even farther. In the past few years, giving favors as gifts to thank guests for attending has become a tradition at all sorts of parties, including bridal or wedding showers. These favors do cost much, but they can serve different purposes during the party. They may simply be given out at the door, included as part of the decorations and given out as people leave, or grouped together in gift bags and given as prizes to those winning the various games.
