Waiting For Me To Land

One of the most frustrating things for me is getting out of the airport.  It just seems like you spend so much time getting out of the airplane, and then waiting for your luggage.  I just wish that the process there would be a lot faster, and less time consuming.

Another one of my complaints is that most of the cabs seem to be gone once I finally get my luggage from the plane.  I don’t know if I have bad luck or something else, but it seems to never fail that all the cabs are gone before I get outside.

Enough of my complaining already.

Now, instead of being a big baby about the whole thing (after I vented a bit above), I decided that I would be a bit more proactive about the problem.  Instead of counting on a cab being at the airport this time, I have contracted a Newark Airport Transportation service to wait for me at the airport and transport me to the hotel.

According to their website, they will be waiting for me outside the airport after my flight has landed.  There is no real time pressure from them, so it should be a more relaxing trip.  It will be a nice change for me.

Knowledge Before Sales

My brother in law is going into the electronics business. He has bought himself a small electronics store and has come to me on advice on bringing it into this century. I have always kept up on the latest in technology and he was wondering if I could give him some oled info. He figured if he was going to sell it, he had better learn all that he could about it.

I gave him a book, which I told him, would be a good source of oled products. It explained what oled was and I told him to feel free to ask me any questions he had once he had finished reading the book and I would be happy to try and answer them for him. I knew that the book was very informative, though, and he would probably know as well much as I did when he was through with it.

I also gave him the address for a website that regularly posts updates and information on oled televisions. He found that to be quite informative as well. The store is open now and so far he is doing really well. You can tell that he enjoys what he is doing and that he really enjoys working for himself. He seems very knowledgeable and is a great salesperson. I am surprised that he has not convinced me to buy something yet.

Checking out Some Squidoo Lenses

I was over at Squidoo.com today checking out some of the lenses.  I thought that it might be a good time for me to embrace this Web 2.0 philosophy and make some money out of it.  I found the following three lenses useful:

  • I was checking out some Archery Supplies online.  I didn’t realize that you could buy bows and arrows online, but I thought that I might get some as spring will be here soon - I could be all ready for target practice.
  • I found someone who loves Nickelback Music as much as I do.  I watched a couple of music videos, and even bought an album that I didn’t have.  Super cool!
  • Lastly, I see that even the Backyardigans made it onto Squidoo.  For those of you who do not know, it is a kids program that my children love.

My Winter Project Almost Finished

This past winter, I made a point of setting myself up with a project to do.  Last year, I didn’t make a point of doing anything, and I was bored all winter.  Instead of repeating that scenario, I vowed that I would make this year more productive than last.

My biggest problem last fall was figuring something for me to do.  I was in no position to build something or create something, but I needed something to do.

My inspiration came one day while at a music store, where I saw a boxed course on how to learn and master piano.  That got me thinking that maybe that would be a good way to spend my winter as I had a piano at home collecting dust anyway.

So, just as spring is arriving, I have a confession to make: I can now play the piano.  In fact, it amazes me that I am as good as I am.  But I will blame that on the great course and the number of hours that I have been practicing.  In the end, it was all worth it!
