Getting Quotes Online

I can remember the old days of getting insurance quotes and I realize now that it was a lot harder back in those days.  There was just so much paperwork that you needed to do without any guarantee of approval.

What made it worse is that you had to wait.  And wait some more.  In fact, by today’s standards, waiting for a California Medicare Supplement quote would have been unacceptable.  In fact, if it was still like that, there would be public outrage.

But now, with the dawning of the Internet, we no longer have to wait anymore.  Thankfully, we can just apply online and get instant gratification with a “yes” or a “no”.  No more waiting and no more patience required.

Speaking of that, I should probably get an insurance quote or two - it is almost time for me to renew.

Understanding a Language I Don’t Know

I found a blog tonight that I wanted to read, but I couldn’t understand.  You see, from what I could gather, it had information pertaining to some new cutting edge OLED display technologies.

I tried to see if there was an English version available online, but sadly, none were available.  But I knew that there had to be someway that I could read it - I just had to look a little harder.

After doing a search for "translation service" I found a website that offered a free service online.  I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

After running the site through the translator, I was able to finally read what I had been looking for.  Sure, the English wasn’t perfect, but it was more than adequate for me to understand.  It was nice to finally read some cutting edge information about OLEDs instead of reading old news.  From now on, I will gladly use translation services if it allows me to read sites that I cannot normally read - they sure work better than I would have thought.

Stress Free Wedding

I have some health conditions that flare up if I am under heavy stress.  With that in mind, I try to keep my life as easy going as possible and the stress level as low as possible.

But, when it came to planning our wedding, I knew that it was going to cause problems.  What wedding isn’t stressful, right?

Well, my future wife saw that I was going to have problems, and she took matters into her own hands.  She went out and hired a professional wedding coordinator to help her get all the details figured out.

The coordinator was also there for the wedding ceremony and reception to ensure that everything went smoothly.  Though the day was a little stressful, thankfully thanks to my wife, I did not have my health problems flare up - instead I was just able to enjoy our special day.  That was one of the best gifts that she has ever given to me.

A Friend in Need

I was doing some research for a high school health class on drug rehabilitation. I learned so much during that research about a topic that I had really known very little of. I knew that there were many people in the class that dealt with these realities on an everyday basis and I suddenly understood a little bit more about who they were.

In fact, when I asked one of my classmates where he got his excellent drug rehab info, he told me that he got it at the facility that he had stayed at the summer before. We talked about his addictions well into the night and it was like I had a window into a life that I previously knew nothing about.

I was sorry that he had gone through that and even more sorry that I had judged him before getting to know him. We became great friends and, though he still sometimes struggles with temptation, he said that I have done so much for him by being accepting and being an ear when he needs it. I got so much more out of that class than I had ever hoped for.

Yacht Storage Business Easy Money

I have been working for a entrepreneur that has a number of storage facilities across the country.  He started many years ago with one small self storage facility, and has branched out into owning a very large number.

A number of years ago, he decided to move into the market of yacht storage.  Since we live in a country that has winter for six months of the year, there is a demand for yacht storage units in our area.  At the time there were no other storage providers in the area, so it was a profitable untapped market for him.

His business has grown to the point where he has added a couple of yacht storage unit to each of his storage facilities close to water.  This way he has increased his bottom line significantly with little extra investment.  I just hope to be as savvy of a business man as him someday - that is why I am learning from the best.

Enticed to Travel

I have never really been one to want to go on long extended trips away from home.  Rather, I would like to stay at home and just make short day trips.

But, I have watched a number of movies in the theater lately that have given me the desire to travel.  It all started with watching National Treasure and Jumper.  They showed me locations in the world that I have never seen in real life and I think that it would be the perfect getaway for myself.

So, I have been looking at an adventure travel portal to make plans to go on a trip far away from my home.  So far, I have seen many good options, but it will be really hard to make a final decision of where to go.

But I know that even though I might be a little scared to travel, I know that the grand adventure that I do have will be great!

Storing Everything for Summer

This summer we will be going on a three month trip to Europe.  Now, I have been saving for this a very long time, and I have just about enough money saved to make it a reality.

While going over the numbers, I realized that I had forgot something important - I had not considered that I would need to pay rent while I was there!

Now, if I needed money for both rent and utilities while on vacation, there was no way that I was going to be able to go.  But I thought that if I could find somewhere I could rent a self storage unit, then I would have greatly reduced expenses while I was gone.

So, I looked through the phonebook and called a number of suppliers of rent storage units.  After going through their offers I was able to rent a self storage unit at a great price.  Now, all I need to do is find someone with a truck - I don’t have one of those either.

Looking at Environmentally Friendly Power

One of the trends that have noticed lately is that my power bill has been slowly creeping up each month over the past year.  I don’t think that I’m really using any more power, but I have noticed that the rate I pay per kilowatt hour has been increasing.

It is got to the point where I am seriously considering installing a solar power system on my home and the eliminating my reliance on the power grid.  I know that the investment initially will be a bit of money, but I know that I should recover my investment in less than 10 years.

I’ve been using some online calculators in an attempt to determine how much power my home uses and in turn many solar panels that I will need.  I’ve been getting many different numbers so I think I will be talking to professional to see what they think.

I am hoping to get my new solar powered system in place before summer because once I turn on my air conditioner I know that my power bill will go through the roof.

Our First Family Circus

This afternoon, as I was taking supper to a friend who had just had a baby, I saw a big sign that stated that the circus was coming to town.  As we have never gone, I thought it might be a good idea to take the children, knowing that they would be completely excited to see the elephants and tigers and all of the other acts.

Taking a closer look, I saw that they were selling advance circus tickets at one of the grocery stores near our house.  I decided to buy some and surprise the kids by telling them that we were going for a drive and end up at the circus.

I think it will be a very interesting day for our family and I just hope that my two-year-old does not get scared by some of the larger animals and that she will sit nice and enjoy the show.  I know, that my five-year-old will think that it is amazing and exciting and I can’t wait to see the look on his face.

Summary of the Papers I Wrote Last Term

I am sure that you are all "excited" to hear what papers I wrote last term.  Seriously though, I do think that some of the papers that I was able to create turned out very well.  These papers were not only well-written, but I did earn one Scholastic award for my writing prowess.

I wrote a couple of arts essays this past term as I was taking a classical art class.  We studied artists in history and everyone wrote a paper detailing who inspired our artistic interests.  For me, it was Leonardo da Vinci as his sketches inspired me to be an artist and an inventor as well.

It took a human resource management class and we will ended up writing one management essay detailing the inefficiencies of the top-down management style currently utilized in corporate America.  It was a great opportunity to do some case studies on larger Fortune 500 companies and analyze their management hierarchy.

Lastly, I had the opportunity to write one longer sociology essay about the lifestyles and social interactions of the Mayan culture with other North American tribes.  It was a great opportunity to elaborate on my experiences from traveling to a Mayan city as well is looking into the mysterious past of the Mayan civilization.

Though the topics varied, each essay helped to develop my thinking and communication skills.  I enjoyed writing each one.
