A Healthy Shopping Trip

One of the things that has become my “job” since I became married is that I am in charge of all the grocery shopping.  Now, that may seem a little strange, but my wife hates walking through aisles of food in case she is tempted to buy something that will affect her weight.

Though, I may be the designated grocery shopper, I am not allowed to go without a list.  I suppose that it is the smart thing to do as I am forgetful from time to time and without the list, I am sure that I won’t get everything.

So, I am going to go grocery shopping today, and I am supposed to stop at the health food store.  You see, my wife has been on a health food kick lately, so we always need to make sure we are stocked up.

On the list today is barley grass, chlorella, and spirulina.  Do I know what they are?  Not really, but I know that if I don’t get them, there could be trouble.  Well, I should go - I’ll be back later.

Squeezing More Profit out of Flips

For the past year, I have been flipping houses.  It seemed like a great way to make money, and give me the opportunity to do something I love - working on real estate.

But, the entire process hasn’t been easy.  We have made some mistakes along the way and I have had to learn some hard lessons.  For example, it is smarter to leave the home walls a neutral color as it gives the new owner option to paint it whatever color they like.

I have also been exploiting my abilities in lantana care, and we make sure to draw up a number of landscaping design ideas for the property to be sold.

By implementing these custom landscaping designs, we have increased our profits immensely.  Our secret is that we make the yard look good without spending too much money.

So, if you are flipping houses make sure that you take a look at the yard - you might just be able to squeeze more money out of it.

Training to Sell Car Insurance

Our firm recently decided to expand their operations to include insurance products on top of the many financial services that we already offered.  I suppose this was a natural market for them to jump into as most of our existing services would be complimentary to the cheap auto insurance that we would be selling.

But this meant that we would have to take additional training to know how to properly sell vehicle insurance to our clients.  We learned the difference between regular and classic car insurance, how to properly quote a cheap car insurance rate, and how to utilize the new system that included the automotive insurance.

It will be a bumpy couple of weeks as we start selling our automotive insurance to the public, but I don’t mind having another product that I can sell and get a recurring commission.

Cheap Romantic Getaway

One of my responsibilities as a husband (at least in my wife’s mind) is that I am supposed to be romantic.  This can include many things such as buying her flowers, to getting a babysitter and taking a night off to spend time alone.

But if you are a husband (I am sure that some of you are), you know that these romantic events can cost a lot of money.  Sure, I guess it is a necessity, but I don’t like to spend an arm and a leg on some of these things.

What I would suggest is go all out, without spending all the money she thinks you are spending.  Take her away for a weekend or a week on a cruise or trip, but make sure to use coupons to save yourself some money.

There are many places that have airfare coupons and even cruise coupons that can save you a lot of money, but get points for taking your wife on a cheap romantic getaway.

Trust me, it is worth it.

Gifts for a 25th Wedding Anniversary

With the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents on the horizon, my siblings and I have been trying to come up with gift ideas for them.  This will be no small event as it is becoming increasingly rare to see couples make it to the 25th anniversary and still be together.

While we are still undecided on what we should get mom and dad for their anniversary, we have come up with some great ideas for party favors for the guests.  We have decided that all of the men will get a set silver cufflinks to commemorate their attendance at the anniversary.  We have also been able to pick up some engraved cufflinks for the original groomsmen from the wedding.

We will also consider getting some fun gifts as well.  For example, we bought some clip-on neckties to remind the guests of the choice my father made of what tie he wore to his wedding day.

All in all, is looking like it will be a fun event.

Brawl and Fall

The first time that I ever seriously hurt myself was when I was working for a commercial roofing Westerly RI company. I was minding my own business, just doing my job one day when a couple of guys on the ground started fighting. They threw a beer bottle and it hit me, causing me to fall off the roof.

I realize that this never would have happened if I had been following the proper safety precautions, but I was still irritated that it had happened because of a drunken brawl between two men. Of all the reasons for me to fall while working on roofing Westerly RI, I never imagined this scenario.

I learned my lesson and I never work up on a roof without the proper safety straps anymore. I also do not have to worry too much about it anymore, as I now work for a flat roofing Westerly RI company and there is very little chance that I will fall off a flat roof.

Getting Back on Financial Track

As I had always been very good with money when I was younger, it nearly broke my heart when I had to go in for poor credit debt consolidation. I knew that it was better than the alternative of going bankrupt, but it was very upsetting, nonetheless.

It all went downhill when I got married and my husband was somehow able to justify all the money that we were spending, but not making. He did not want to admit that we had a problem, but he finally, reluctantly agreed to look into how to reduce credit card debt.

We made an appointment with a financial advisor, who was going to lay out some debt diet plans for us. He told us that it would take a long time and a lot more effort on our part, but that we certainly could eventually become debt free.

I have started spending wisely again and my husband finally concurred that it would be best if I handled all of the financial matters in our household.
